Overview

The Bardia National Park is spread over 968 sq km and located in the western Terai on the eastern bank of the Karnali river. The park is the largest and most undistributed protected area in the Terai and is home to the endangered Royal Bengal tiger and Nepal’s famous one-horned rhinoceros. It is thickly forested by Sal trees, glass lands, savannah and riverine forest. The park host 30 different mammals, more than 250 species of birds, and several varieties of reptiles and water animals. Some of the other animals found here are elephant, swamp deer, blackbuck, gharial crocodile and marsh mugger crocodile, birds include endangered varieties of Bengal florican lesser florican, silver eared mesia and sarus crane. Day 1: Fly or Drive from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj 12/13 Drive to Bardia National Park
Flight: 50/60 minutes or Drive: 12/14 hours Drive from Nepalgunj to Bardia: 2/3 hours Your adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj or an overland drive through Nepal's picturesque countryside. Upon arrival in Nepalgunj, you'll be transferred to your jungle lodge near Bardia National Park. After checking in and enjoying lunch, your naturalist guide will provide a briefing about the park, its wildlife, and the safari activities ahead. In the late aftenoon, take a guided walk around the nearby village to experience the traditional lifestyle of the indigenous Tharu community. Day 2: Full-Day Jeep Safari in Bardia National Park Safari Duration: 7/8 hours
After an early breakfast, set off on an exciting full-day jeep safari deep into Bardia National Park. Explore dense Sal forests, vast grasslands, and riverbanks while searching for the park's incredible wildlife. With a bit of luck, you may encounter the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger, one-honed rhinoceros, Asian wild elephants, leopards, sloth bears, spotted deer, swamp deer, wild boars, and many other animals. The park is also home to over 400 species of birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and photographers. Enjoy a packed lunch at a designated picnic area before continuing your wildlife exploration. Day 3: Jungle Walk, Canoe Ride & Bird Watching Activity Duration: 6/7 hours
Begin the day with an early moning birdwatching excursion, when the forest is alive with colorful birds and wildlife activity. After breakfast, enjoy a guided jungle walk accompanied by an experienced naturalist who will explain the park's flora, fauna, and animal tracking techniques. Later, embark on a peaceful canoe ride along the Kanali or Babai River, where you may spot gharial crocodiles, mugger crocodiles, turtles, numerous water birds, and, if you're fortunate, the endangered Gangetic River Dolphin. Day 4: Drive to Nepalgunj 2/3 Fly or Drive Back to Kathmandu
